CBI likely to take over Siwan journalist murder case

Wife of slain journalist Rajdev Ranjan, who was allegedly murdered by wanted shooter Mohammed Kaif purportedly at the behest of RJD leader Mohammed Shahabuddin, moved the Supreme Court on Wednesday seeking CBI probe against Shahabuddin and Bihar Health Minister and Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tej Pratap, after the duo were spotted with Kaif.
News agency ANI reported that the CBI are set to take over the case and a team will be sent to Siwan to begin the probe. On Tuesday, Ranjan's wife Asha demanded action against the culprits responsible for the murder of her husband. Saying that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar must correct his mistake, Asha said that he must initiate legal proceedings against the murder accused.
Wanted shooter Kaif was spotted with Tej Pratap and Shahabuddin, who was recently released on bail in the murder case.
"The pictures show that Shahabuddin is related to Kaif and some other criminals. He was released from jail on September 10 and today is September 13," said Asha.
"How is it that the police did not know where the culprits were? Strict action should be taken against them. Nitish Kumar did not take cognizance of the matter, that is why I had to go to Delhi. He should correct his mistake and he should make proceedings against these culprits. CBI should take up the murder probe, until then the truth will not come out," she said.
The Bihar government has decided to challenge the bail granted to Shahabuddin, after the opposition demanded that he be sent back to jail under Crime Control Act. Shahabuddin created a controversy up on his release from jail by saying that Nitish was a "chief minister of circumstances".
